About Havering Singers

Formed in 1946 as a section of the Hornchurch, Romford and Upminster Music and Arts Society, the choir became the Havering Singers in 1965 when the new London Borough was formed. The choir has grown to around 100 voices and regularly performs in local churches.

The choir gives four major concerts during each season, which runs from September to July. The repertoire includes two choral concerts with orchestra and soloists, a concert of Christmas Music, and a Summer Soiree comprising a miscellany of lighter, more contemporary pieces for voices and soloists.

On this website you will find information about the Society and the programme of forthcoming events. The Information page gives details about rehearsal dates and other useful details.

Despite Covid restrictions preventing our normal Wednesday rehearsals, we are still holding virtual rehearsals via Zoom. We have a vocal warm-up to wake up our voices. Then we learn some new music for our Summer concert (not sure which year that might be yet ! ) and we have been refreshing a selection of music that we have performed more recently.  It is great to see each other, share some fellowship, have a chat, enjoy an occasional quiz, and start to learn Jonathan’s arrangements. So if you have been thinking about joining a choir, how about coming along virtually and see what we get up to. You can use the ‘Contact Us’ tab or ring Donna Coy on 01708 451719.

Come and join us
Havering Singers is open to all who enjoy singing, whatever their musical experience, so if you are looking for a friendly choir and the opportunity to make music, please come and make some music with us. You will be made very welcome as Barbara found.  Click here to read her account.  If you are interested in becoming a member and would like some more information, contact Donna Coy on 01708 451719.  Singing and making music has recently increased in popularity,  possibly as a result of TV shows such as The Voice and the singing competitions lead by Gareth Malone or possibly just because it is fun and enjoyable.  We are currently looking for new members in all sections, in particular for Tenor & Bass. If you have prior choir experience or would like to try singing then please contact Donna Coy on 01708 451719 for more information about joining us. Please note that from time to time there may be a waiting list for some sections.
