Tim Smith

Tim SmithTim has a wide ranging musical career in choral music, opera, recital and musical theatre. Tim joined the choir as our accompanist in 2005 and has developed an almost telepathic rapport with Keith.  His contribution to the rehearsal is invaluable and greatly assists with our ability to learn new music. As well as accompanying the Havering Singers he also plays for the Hutton and Shenfield Choral Society, and the Valentine Singers in Ilford and was for many years the pianist for its predecessor, the multi-Eisteddfod winning Ivor Evans choir. With these choirs, he has rehearsed most of the major choral repertoire, and taken part in many orchestral performances including Orff’s Carmina Burana, Britten’s War Requiem, Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and Lambert’s Rio Grande.

Tim also regularly accompanies opera companies including The Carl Rosa Opera Company, Cameo Opera, Hatstand Opera and The New Savoyards of London. He has enjoyed performing with these companies at the Barbican and St. Martin in the Fields in London, as well as in many other prestigious venues across the UK.

He regularly appears on the concert platform in recitals with singers and has performed a wide variety of music including song cycles of Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Dvorak and Michael Head.

Tim is also a successful solo pianist, performing recitals in his own right across the South East. He will shortly perform Mozart’s D minor piano concerto accompanied by the Aurelian orchestra.
